ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

AGM
VOTE ONE: Do we increase the maximum number of board
members on the Fordhall Community Land Initiative Board
to 14 from 9?
There was much discussion over this decision and the end vote, coupled with the online vote, was a majority decision to increase the board number to 14. This will allow greater inclusion and involvement in the early stages of the project, not to mention bringing in as many outside skills as possible. It will costs the society £150 to amend the rules to accommodate this.
VOTE TWO: Board members to be elected.
The result of the first vote resulted in all 14 members who put themselves forward for the board have been elected. To see more information on these 14

SUSTAINABLE FARMING CONFERENCE
Speakers
* Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association, will open the conference. Patrick has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the organic sector and the benefits of organic farming to sustainable development. This was a rare opportunity to listen to one of the key players in organic and food miles debates.
* Tom Woolley, Leading sustainable building expert from Ireland. Tom is advising
FCLI on future building plans and will present his ideas. He gave options for sustainable building. Tom held a workshop on April 1st for you to have your say about Fordhalls future.
* Charlotte and Ben Hollins, no conference would be complete without them!
Charlotte gave an update on the FCLI and our plans for the future. Ben
give an update on the farming and how he is moving into organic
certification once more. A chance to find out how the Fordhall Community Land Initiative was created - the first structure to place farmland into community ownership in England.
* John Hughes, Shropshire Wildlife Trust. John explained the new Nature
Trail plans for FCLI and how it will increase the appeal of Fordhall Farm. He also spoke about the benefits wildlife have and the important role they play
in our farming systems.
As the icing on the already well-decorated cake, the whole event was chaired
by Tom Oliver, Head of Rural Policy, Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE).
Fordhall Fools Food Festival
Sunday April 1st, 11am-4pm
An Open Day at Fordhall for all those who had not yet visited.
We had over 1000 visitors to Fordhall on April Fools Day and we could not have been more pleased. The weather was fine, the atmosphere electric and the animals were loving the attention. With over 20 food stalls, live music, childrens games, guided walks, organic afternoon teas, Fordhall BBQ, baby lambs, chicks, calves, piglets and more, there was plenty to keep everyone occupied.

Food stalls provided local delights to suit everybody.

We realy hope you are able to visit Fordhall Farm in the near future and see what you have helped to save for everyone to enjoy.
