Accessibility statement

Although Fordhall will always remain a working farm, we endeavour to make the farm as accessible as is practically possible. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy nature and get close to farming, whatever your disability or ability.

We have a disabled toilet onsite and two disabled parking spaces in our main entrance area. The farm shop and Arthur’s Farm Kitchen are both accessible for wheelchairs and small scooters.

After passing over a short gravel area and gentle slope, our community garden and free range pigs are accessible for most sturdy wheelchairs and scooters during dry weather.

The rest of our farm trails are only accessible for large off-road pushchairs and are not suitable for wheelchairs. This is due to the nature of the trails being on a working farm with livestock.

Within the building. there is a lift to our upstairs function room, providing access to courses/classrooms or for use of the room for private functions or our short courses.

Some of our courses/events can be tailored to those with specific physical or other disabilities. If there is a course you are interested in and you want to check suitability, please do call our office to discuss your requirements.

Printed material

We can provide large print copies of our menus, farm leaflet, trails leaflets and newsletters on request. Please call our office at least two days before your visit to allow us time to accommodate your request.

Events

Most of our larger events are held in the field. Disabled car parking is made available on a gravel car park near to the field. The field is reasonably flat and lighter wheelchairs and electronic wheelchairs can generally access the top entrance of the field when it is dry.

If you have any questions about accessibility to Fordhall and your specific ability then please do contact us in the office and we will be only too happy to provide help and guidance where we can.
