Yesterday (Wednesday 16th December) our ‘Wednesday group’ who is part of our Care Farming initiative held their Christmas celebration. Taking part in our celebrations were lots of invited guests including the Market Drayton Wayfarers, Celia’s mother and father and many more. Last week the group made Christmas apple pies and an extra-special big latticed apple pie for the Christmas celebration. Also on offer were cheese and biscuits topped with the chutney made by the Wednesday group using ingredients grown in the community garden.
Phil, Phillip and Celia along with volunteers Janet, Mel and Bex our Care Farm manager, helped to organise the event and set out the tables, chairs, food and drinks. It all looked very Christmassy.
Our guests were greeted with Christmas music, hot and cold drinks and lots of hugs as friends old and new met. It wasn’t long before everyone was tucking in to food and drink and chatting with each other. Everybody was very happy and sounded extremely cheerful. It wasn’t long before they were visited by staff from the office and Arthur’s Farm Kitchen who wanted to join in the fun.
Connie Hollins, the mother of Fordhall Farm enthusiastically led the Christmas sing-song along with actions! The whole farm seemed to reverberate as everyone joined in with much gusto.
Everyone had a good time, but it was soon time to say goodbye to our guests. The singing didn’t stop there though as the Market Drayton Wayfarers along with Phil and Celia went on to Raven House in Market Drayton for their Christmas celebration and carol service.
We are all looking forward to 2016 and much more planting, growing, harvesting, cooking and eating in our Community Garden at Fordhall Organic farm. Come and join in the fun?To find out more about Care Farming at Fordhall Organic Farm, click here
