Clay Oven Building @ Fordhall Farm | England | United Kingdom

Spend an enjoyable and instructive day learning how to build a cob oven.

You will learn about where to site your oven, how to build the right kind of base for your needs and what kind of structure is required to keep your oven dry.  With plenty of opportunities to get mucky, you will then build an oven from scratch.  By the end of the day you will feel confident to go home and start your own project, having learnt how to build the different layers needed to keep your oven hot and how to plaster the outside of the oven to personalise it in your own style.

With a bread oven on site at Fordhall we will also show you how to light a fire so you will get a chance to make your own pizzas or flatbread, leaving you wanting more!  This is a hands on day and wellies or boots are necessary as well as clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Bex, our course tutor, has been making and using clay ovens for many years and is an experienced tutor. You will benefit from her knowledge and informal teaching style.

All materials will be provided as well as the crucial notes you won’t have to make during the day.

The day will start at 9.30 and finish at 4.30.

Light refreshments will be provided as well as ingredients for pizza making.  Lunch is available from Arthurs Farm Kitchen should you wish to purchase something more substantial to eat.
