Successful Summer Fair

This weekend was the annual Summer Fair, and what a success it was! We had such a variety of stalls and activities for all the family. There were traditional Victorian games presented by the scouts, welly wanging for all the family, corn dolly demonstrations, bench making plus we even had a visit from the fire engine and police car (for the children to explore before you ask!) the sheep shearing which took place in our new barn was a resounding success, a really interesting and informative addition to the fair.

Lots and lots of people came through the gates, from nearby and as far away as London and everyone had a great time. Lots of home cooked organic cakes were munched as was Ben’s tasty Hog Roast.
A huge thanks must go out to all our amazing volunteers that really helped for the day to go smoothly and without a hitch – we couldn’t have done it without you!

P.S Don’t forget that this week is your last chance to see Arthur’s Plough. It is on at Home Farm, Attingham from Wednesday – Saturday. Please ring the office for ticket availability.

  1. Hi Charlotte, Ben and Hannah et al

I hope that you have almost recovered from the weekend’s events and that your days
now resemble something normal… before the next event comes along and wrecks them
    again!

I just wanted to say (and I think I speak for Jason, too) what a fantastic time we
had this weekend, despite the showers. Everything was arranged with military
precision (I was impressed that the military turned up!) and seemed to run like
clockwork. I’ve done a lot of event management in the past and always refer to it
as the “swan syndrome”: lovely and smooth on the top and paddling like hell
    underneath!

  2. Hi Charlotte and Ben

I’ve just finished reading your book and felt I must drop you an email to say how
very inspiring you are. What a battle against the odds. It was a truly humbling
    book.

I knew the bare bones of your story, and indeed bought my husband a share in the
Initiative for his birthday last year, but reading the details of when where and how
brought it all to life. I’ve just been on your website and see that it was the
summer faire today – I hope it all went well for you (despite the rubbish british
    weather!).

  3. Hi Hannah,

Just to say thank you for you & the team at Fordhall for a superbly organised event
on Sunday. As before, Richard & I thoroughly enjoyed the day, great atmosphere & a
touch of the Dunkirk spirit in the face of our wonderful English weather !

    Thanks again & well done.

    Kind regards,
