Cyclists welcome

Whilst we are a working farm, with obvious limitations, we believe everyone has a right to access the landscape.

We are therefore always doing our best to improve and develop our onsite accessibility.

If you don’t find what you need below, or if you have ideas on how we can improve, then please do get in touch with our office. We would love to hear from you.

Tramper Mobility Scooter

Are you a wheelchair user? Perhaps you, a friend or relative is unable to walk a long distance.

Our Tramper (pictured above) allows you to remain together in a safe and secure way yet still enjoy an adventure.

Drivers need to be able to steer independently and have full use of one wrist to operate the scooter.

Use is on a self-led basis, and users must be accompanied by another person. Our Tramper should allow the user to access all of Charlotte’s Trail with ease. Find out more about our trails here.

Availability: Tuesday to Friday at a voluntary donation of £5 per hour if you are able (otherwise free).

Donations from any members of the public, who would like to assist with funding this vehicle to enable farm access for all, are most welcomed.

Please contact project@fordhallfarm.com or 01630 638 696 to book or to discuss alternative times.

Tramper use terms and conditions

Lifts and room access

We have a platform lift which provides access to our upstairs function and meeting room. If this space is booked and you require the lift, please include a note with your booking with us.

Arthur’s Farm Kitchen café and the Straw Lodge are all on one floor.

The Farm Shop does have one room which is up two small steps. If you need assistance to access this space, then please do get in touch and we can discuss the options with you.

Baby changing

Our baby changing facilities are based within the disabled toilet of the main building.

Our site is breast-feeding friendly.

Pushchairs

All-terrain, large-wheeled pushchairs are able to access Charlotte’s Walk.

However, due to the nature of our trails being on a working farm, our paths are not on hard standing through fields.

A standard pushchair would be able to access Betty the Tractor and Mud Kitchen, as well as the community garden.

Car Parking and toilets

We have four accessible parking bays: two outside Arthur’s Farm Kitchen and the Farm Shop, and two outside the Straw Lodge. Both the main building and the Straw Lodge have an accessible toilet featuring additional hand rails and pull cord alarm systems.

Cyclists

Volunteer and handmade bike park sign

We welcome cyclists onsite and provide a dedicated, secure bike rack.

We recommend if you are cycling as a group that you book a table in Arthur’s Farm Kitchen in advance.

Other needs

Please get in touch ahead of your visit if you have other needs and we will do our best to accommodate you. Our priority is to ensure we do everything within our capacity to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

Things to do during your stay

Explore

You will be left to your own devices during your stay, and are free to explore our picturesque organic farm. We have farm trails weaving around the farm, which will take you around our pastures, woodland and along the river. Why not say hello to some of our friendly animals as you explore?

Our organic Farm Shop is a short walk away, where you can purchase delicious local produce to prepare in the yurts. We can also provide you with a hamper of your favourite goodies to make your stay stress- and decision-free – just let us know when you book.

Our yurts are designed to help you reconnect with nature, your loved ones and yourself. They are well and truly off-grid. For this reason we have no Wi-Fi facilities at the yurts. There are electricity sockets available for use at the farm in the main building, but with the Shropshire Hills as your playground, this is the perfect place to switch off!

The nature of our yurts and surroundings lends itself perfectly to families that home educate; there are so many new experiences you can enjoy with your children whilst they learn about the natural world first hand.
