Announcing our 2025 photo competition winner!

Community is central to the ethos here at Fordhall, and there are many ways to describe the people who are part of it – supportive, generous, passionate.

However, the adjective that is currently stuck in my mind is ‘creative’. That creativity has shone through greatly with your entries to this year’s calendar photo competition! It is truly delightful to see the subjects which inspire you all as you wander the acres of the farm, no matter the season.

Sifting through the entries, as ever, has been both a challenge and a joy (you lot never make it easy to pick a winner!), and we are now able to announce that Paul Pennell is this year’s winner, with this wonderful photo of a male common darter. This photograph will feature in our 2026 calendar, which is now available to pre-order!

Coinciding with our 20th anniversary of community-ownership, this special edition calendar will feature photos old and new, telling the story of Fordhall over the years. Of course, the environmental impact is always in our thoughts – all of our calendars are printed on FSC-approved paper. All profits gained from sales will go towards supporting our 20th anniversary celebrations.
