Volunteer Profile: Janet

Next in our volunteer stories series is Janet! Featured in the Winter 2018 edition of the Grazer:

Since the community garden project began in 2010, I have had the privilege of working alongside Janet who first came to Fordhall when we teamed up with the Wayfarers, a local day -care centre in Market Drayton. Janet was working at the Wayfarers and she and the ‘team’ would arrive each Wednesday to help shape the garden into what it has become today. Janet bought with her, years of experience of working with vulnerable adults as well as her friendship with the folk she supported and her understanding of their needs, helping the project to grow into the successful care farm community it is today. Janet also brought her knowledge of growing vegetables and her love of jam and chutney making!

Janet has supported the project consistently throughout the years come rain and shine, working alongside the team, enabling them to create a wonderful community garden, to grow as individuals and supporting folk in their various endeavours at the farm. Her wealth of experience and fantastic support of what we do at Fordhall has meant a lot to me and anyone she has worked with in the garden.

Now in 2018, Janet has decided to step back from coming to the farm so regularly but we will still benefit from her presence whenever she is able to come and we will still be able to enjoy her company on those days.

A big heartfelt thank you to Janet, from us all!
